"My last game in New York was my greatest day in hockey..." - The Great One

**This is the same post and video that I have on my personal website, but because everyone is so vocal and tells me what they’re thinking on this site (serious sarcasim there), I decided to put it up again.**

It’s hard to say what my favorite part of a Ranger game is, as there are plenty of them. There’s taking the LIRR into NYC with “The Garden Faithful.” There’s also walking up the stairs from Penn Station or the 7th Avenue entrance. Then again, there’s always that same feeling, regardless of it’s the first or last game of the season, of the cold air from the Garden ice hitting my lungs as I make my way to my seats. The list goes on and on, but the part that I can share with you is when the boys come out onto the ice.

When the Rangers take the ice at MSG, they show them coming out of the locker room, lead by our goalie, “The King” aka Henrik aka Hank aka Henrik Lundqvist. Mikey Richter did it back in his days, including the year we won the Cup in ‘94, and now it’s Hank’s time. Every time I see him leading the boys onto the ice, I get the chills, along with a surge of energy that gets me more excited than water in a dessert. It’s a great introduction, and very symbolic way of Henrik saying, ‘follow me.’ Lundqvist has been more than Ranger fans could ever imagine, and we’re all aware that we’re only going as far as Henrik will take us.

So sit back, relax, and watch as King Henrik leads the troops into battle.

**It was pointed out to me by a dear friend of the Section 400 family that I wasn’t clear about the membership pricing.  The $23 ‘Captain Chris Drury’ membership will be a one time fee.  Thanks GC!**

Ok boys and girls, here’s the update that we’ve all been waiting for!  More details to come, but in the meantime, any ideas for new t-shirts are more than welcome!  WE are the Garden Faithful!

All feedback, good or bad, is more than welcome!  Post as comments here, on YouTube, Twitter or Facebook!

The boys in blue scored 7 goals, yes 7, in our victory against the Toronto Maple Leafs tonight at MSG.  I’m not really sure where to start with this one, so I’m going to wait until tomorrow to do a more complete roundup, including the Brashear-Orr fight, ‘A’ kid called Cally continues to prove why he wears the ‘A’ and other highlights from the game.

As I’ve mentioned before, there’s going to be some really big news coming out of Section 400 that you won’t want to miss and I have a very good feeling that it’s coming sooner that we all expected!!!

Let’s Go Rangers!!!!

Just a quick recap/highlights from the Rangers 4-3 win against the Caps tonight at the Verizon Center in ‘Deee Ceee’

  • Marian ‘I’m a true sniper but you’d never know it because I barely show any excitement after I score’ Gaborik scored twice in the 3rd period
  • A kid called Cally’ and Ales ‘yes, it’s Ales not Alex’ Kotalik also scored for the boys in blue.
  • Johnny Torts just said what we all knew, we definitely took too many penalties, but hey, we won, which is why we’re not even going to bring up ‘the goal’ that Henrik gave up.
  • Staalsy and the rest of the boys in blue held Alex to…….absolutely 0 points tonight!  Zero, zilch, nada, nothing!!!
  • Captain Chris Drury blocked a short handed shot in the first period.  Nothing new there, as #23 always puts himself, and his body, on the line for his teammates.  Gotta, gotta, gotta love him for that!

****Stay posted for some big announcements coming soon!!!!***

Something To Prove

October 8th, 2009

Alex ‘The Great’ and the Washington Capitals knocked us out of the playoffs last year, and we deserved it.  Donald Brashear knocked out Blair Betts, and…..now he has the word “Rangers” on the front of his red, white and blue jersey.  DB has been a hot topic for a while now, and the last thing I’m going to do is make a big deal about it.  All I’ll say is that I’m glad he’s skating with us this year.

We all know that every game counts.  We all know that these two points can be the difference between the 4th and 5th slots come playoff time.  We all know that this is the exact type of team that we have to beat to make it anywhere come April, May or even June.  We all know that it’s time to separate the men from the boys.  We all know that it doesn’t matter if it’s Sid ‘The Kid’ or Alex ‘The Great.’ We all know that we have something to prove and we all know that we don’t have to prove it to Alex, Sidney, the commentators on Versus or ESPN, only to the boys with the word “Rangers” on the front of their sweater.

Big game tonight boys, big game.

***Stay posted for some big news coming out of Section 400!  I promise that you won’t want to miss it!!***

When the Rangers won the Stanley Cup in 1994, I was a senior in High School.  To say it was the greatest year of my life is an understatement.  I went to more games than I can remember that season, including the playoffs, and Game 1 and 5 vs. Vancouver.  The ticker tape parade was unbelievable!  NYC was going crazy, and so was I!

I found these pictures from the parade and thought ‘The Garden Faithful” would appreciate them!

Matty Gilroy scored his first NHL goal and Michael Del Zotto scored his second, both against long time Ranger nemesis Marty Broduer.  Ales Kotalik also scored and had an assist in the Rangers 3-2 win against the Devils tonight.  Gilroy and Del Zotto, aka DZ, have given The Garden Faithful a lot to look forward to. Not only are these kids playing on Broadway, but they’re playing damn good too.

Ranger fans aren’t used to having young, talented kids in the lineup, but these days things are different on Broadway. Head Coach John Tortorella, aka Johnny Torts, made that loud and clear during the timeout that he called less than 2 minutes into the game. Tortorella is exactly what the doctor ordered. He’s a straight shooter and doesn’t hold anything back, including his drink during last season’s playoff game against Washington and some constructive criticism of talented Brandon Dubinsky, aka ‘Smoke that’ Dubie. He’ll play you if you deserve to play, and sit you if you deserve to sit, and that’s why Nik Zherdev isn’t and shouldn’t be around.

While Torts is busy turning these kids into the men and players that they have the potential to be, he’s not doing it alone. Although he’s a ‘quite’ guy to the fans, Captain Chris Drury is the perfect compliment to Coach T. Drury is known all over the league as not only a class act and clutch player, but a hard worker and a great leader. Jagr might have more talent than Drury, but his lack of presence on and off the ice would have been a complete disaster for these kids. They need guidance and to see with their own eyes what it takes to have the ‘C’ on your Ranger sweater, which is exactly why we have #23.

Brodeur’s buddy, Sean Avery aka Seany Aves, wasn’t in the lineup once again, so we’ll just have to wait for the next time around for them to continue their hate-hate relationship. With Avery out of the lineup, ‘a kid named Cally’ decided that he would fill the void. The only Ranger to have an ‘A’ on his sweater was sent to the box for goalie interference, a call normally saved for #16. Callahan is another perfect example of how ‘Team Torts’ operates. There are plenty of guys on this team that have more experience than #24, but he’s the one with the ‘A’ on his sweater. Play hard every game, every shift, every practice, and you’ll be recognized and rewarded appropriately, just like Cally.

Enjoy the win boys, but not for too long. Time to rest up a bit and get ready for Alex and his Washington Caps this Thursday down in D.C.

Our boys in blue looked real good last night in their home opener against the Ottawa Senators.  Rookie defenseman, Michael Del Zotto scored his first NHL goal in front of The Garden Faithful, amongst other highlights from the game.

The color is a bit off, and it might be a bit shaky, but here’s the stick salute that The Garden Faithful has become accustomed too after a victory on their home ice.

Rangers Sign Semenov

September 30th, 2009

Just a quick update that our boys in blue signed Alexei Semenov to add to our blue line.  Semenov is listed at 6-6, 245 lbs, born April 10th, 1981.  Alexei played the past 2 seasons with San Jose, and certainly wasn’t signed for his offensive talent, tallying a total of 33 points in 6 seasons.

Semenov adds size and experience to a young Rangers d-line, with the exception of Rozy and Redden, both veterans who we won’t even start to get into right now.

Thanks for checking in!  Take care, comb your hair!
